Property rental debt is one of the fastest growing areas of bad debt. We have a number of cases on our books and through determination are succeeding in the recovery of monies owed to Landlords. This is not easy debt as the very nature of the debtors situation means they have limited cash and assets.
Case Study:
Recently we were contacted by a Landlord based in Manchester who had a non paying tenant. The bill had run up to in excess of £4,500. The Landlord had given discounts to try and recover lost rental. We offered monthly payment plans they were agreed to but not paid. What the tenants did was leave the property and using the money owed, rented a more expensive property elsewhere, basically did a runner. However within days we were able to trace them to their new property and now are going through the court process.
This particular couple tried every stroke to avoid payment, falsifying bank transfer documents etc. We now will gain judgement and seek an attachment to earnings.
